MONTREAL – Six months after entering the radio market via its acquisition of Newfoundland Capital Corporation, Stingray was crowned International Broadcast Group of the Year and International Radio Programmer of the Year Friday at the Worldwide Radio Summit in Burbank, CA.

The annual industry convention attracts broadcast professionals from around the world.

“We take immense pride in being recognized by our radio industry peers,” said Stingray’s president of radio Ian Lurie, in the news release. “Being celebrated as a global leader is made even sweeter by the fact that Stingray purchased its first radio stations only a few months ago. These awards are a testament to the exceptional work accomplished by everyone at Stingray. We will not rest on our laurels! Just as we’ve always done, we remain committed to adapting to an evolving media landscape and providing our listeners with the highest quality programming in the most popular formats.”

In addition, Steve Jones, Stingray’s SVP/brands & content, radio, was named International Radio Programmer of the Year for the second time in his career, after winning in 2014.

“Stingray may be new to the radio industry, but it is already setting the standard for quality broadcast on the global stage”, added Jones.  “Our programming team is a formidable force that produces world-class broadcasts. I am delighted that their excellence has not gone unnoticed. Every day they make me look good; they are the true winners of this award.”
