
REGINA – The SaskTel board of directors took the word “acting” out of Doug Burnett’s title today, naming him president and CEO of the provincial crown corporation.
“With 30 years of experience, he has the in-depth industry and business knowledge to lead the strategic direction of the company and continue its success in the highly competitive communications industry,” said Grant Kook, SaskTel chair, in the press release. He had been the acting CEO since Ron Styles retired in July 2018.
Burnett joined the company in 1990 as corporate counsel and after seven years in this position became general manager, human resources. In 2003, he was appointed vice president, human resources and corporate services.
SaskTel boasts more than $1.2 billion in annual revenue and approximately 1.35 million customer connections including 611,000 wireless accesses, 338,000 wireline network accesses, 283,000 Internet accesses and 113,000 maxTV subscribers. It employs approximately 3,900 full-time equivalent employees.
