
TORONTO – Encore+ is partnering with the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival to stream a curated selection of Canadian shorts and feature-length films by some of the country's most accomplished Indigenous filmmakers.
Titles that will stream as part of the imagineNATIVE Playlist include: ?E?anx (The Cave) by Helen Haig-Brown; Choke by Michelle Latimer; File Under Miscellaneous by Jeff Barnaby; Inuit Cree Reconciliation by Zacharias Kunuk and Neil Diamond; My Legacy by Helen Haig-Brown; Prayer for a Good Day by Zoe Leigh Hopkins; Rocks at Whisky Trench by Alanis Obomsawin; Savage by Lisa Jackson; Shooting Geronimo by Kent Monkman; and Wapawekka by Danis Goulet.
“Encore+ offers an extraordinary catalogue of Canadian film and TV favourites, and we are thrilled to welcome these iconic titles curated in partnership with imagineNATIVE to the growing family of memorable productions featured on the channel,” said Canada Media Fund president and CEO Valerie Creighton, in the news release. “We're delighted to showcase these extraordinary films by some of Canada’s most renowned Indigenous artists and filmmakers. This new partnership will ensure these films are more accessible to audiences in Canada and around the world.”
Working closely with Canada’s film and television producers, distributors, broadcasters, unions, guilds and other industry associations, Encore+ is spearheaded by the Canada Media Fund (CMF) with support from Google Canada, Bell Media, BroadbandTV (BBTV), and Deluxe Toronto. Telefilm Canada is also a key partner in this endeavor, providing financial and promotional support.
