MONTREAL – Eschewing conventional radio, Quebecor is creating QUB radio, a digital radio platform that promises a collection of live radio shows and a podcast library.

Launching October 15, Quebecor says that it has recruited “popular media personalities” including hosts Mario Dumont, Benoit Dutrizac, Richard Martineau and Sophie Durocher who return to the airwaves to join a crop of “new, insightful voices offering diverse opinions” such as Bianca Longpré, Geneviève Pettersen and Vanessa Destiné.

"Today marks the dawn of a new era for Quebecor," said president and CEO Pierre Karl Péladeau, in the news release.  "The introduction of our first digital radio service allows us to maximize our convergence strategy – just like we did 10 years ago with mobile services – as we launch an additional media platform to broadcast our high-quality content. We're proud to offer Quebecers customized programming with the best local talent in a wide range of fields."

QUB radio will be available online, via an app, and through the websites of company-owned outlets including the Journal de Montréal, Journal de Québec and TVA Nouvelles.  Listeners may also tune in through platforms such as TuneIn and MyTuner Canada.
