LOS GATOS, CA – Netflix rolled out Smart Downloads on Tuesday, a new feature that will delete a downloaded episode once it has been watched and then automatically download the next episode.
In a blog post, the streamer said that Smart Downloads is now live on Android devices, with iOS devices to follow in the coming months.
“We know how annoying it can be to go through all your apps and delete files you no longer need; we also understand that when it comes to Netflix, the faster you can get to the next episode you want to watch, the better”, reads the post by Cameron Johnson, director of product innovation. “Whether it is smart downloading or viewing a mobile preview, we realize the best part of Netflix is connecting with the stories you will love in an easier and more fun way.”
The Smart Downloads feature only operates on WiFi and can be toggled on and off depending on a user’s preference.
