MONTREAL – High viewer interest in the Stanley Cup playoffs propelled TVA Sports into top spot as Quebec’s most-watched sports station in the spring season, says TVA.

Quoting Numeris data, the broadcaster said that up to 1,171,000 viewers tuned in to the NHL’s last playoff game on TVA Sports, corresponding to a market share of 55%.  On average, 757,000 viewers (32.6% market share) stayed glued to their screens to watch the Washington Capitals win their very first Stanley Cup against the Las Vegas Golden Knights.

The five games of the final series drew an average of 699,000 viewers (27.2% market share), up from the average 680,000 viewers for the first five games of the 2017 finals (24.8% market share).

During the playoffs as a whole, TVA Sports said that it registered a 5% market share, four times higher than its main competitor.

TVA Sports will also air the 2018 NHL Awards Ceremony on June 20 at 7:30 PM, the 2018 NHL Draft on June 22 at 6:00 PM and the opening of the 2018 NHL Free Agent Market on July 1 at 11:00 AM.
