
TORONTO – Amazon confirmed today new drama The Looming Tower will be coming to Canada on March 1st as an Amazon Prime Video exclusive.
Starring Jeff Daniels (The Martian, Newsroom) and Alec Baldwin (30 Rock, The Departed), the 10-episode season is based on the Pulitzer Prize winning exposé by Lawrence Wright. The show will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in more than 200 countries and territories. The first three episodes will launch on March 1st with new episodes launching weekly thereafter for the remainder of the season. The trailer is here.
The Looming Tower traces the rising threat of Osama Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda, and takes a controversial look at how the rivalry between the CIA and FBI may have inadvertently set the stage for the tragedy of 9/11 and the war in Iraq.
Adapted for television by writer Dan Futterman (Foxcatcher, Capote) and directed by Alex Gibney (Going Clear: Scientology and The Prison of Belief, Taxi to the Dark Side, and We Steal Secrets: The Story of Wikileaks), the series also stars Tahar Rahim, Peter Sarsgaard, Bill Camp, Michael Stuhlbarg, Virginia Kull, Sullivan Jones, and Wrenn Schmidt.
