CBC’s Olympics coverage watched by more than 82% of Canadians so far

TORONTO – Some 29 million Canadians (or 82% of the population) have watched some part of CBC/Radio-Canada’s coverage of the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 across all English and French television networks and platforms during the first 10 days, says CBC.

Quoting Numeris data, the public broadcaster said that its English-language primetime coverage across all broadcast networks has garnered a 2+ average minute audience of more than 3 million viewers to date, with CBC alone delivering a 24% primetime audience share since the start of the Games. These numbers are sure to rise as the men's and women's hockey tournaments conclude.

The most-watched day of the Olympic Winter Games to date was Day 2 (Sunday, February 11), with 18.8 million Canadians tuning in across all live television and digital platforms, and Day 10 (Monday, February 19) with 18.7 million viewers across all platforms.

Other TV highlights include 4.3 million viewers on February 19 (Day 10) as Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir captured gold in the Ice Dance Free Program, and February 18 (Day 9) when 3.9 million viewers took in Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje’s performance as part of the Ice Dance Short Program.
