TORONTO – Canadians have a new streaming option after Wednesday’s launch of BritBox, a subscription video-on-demand streaming service from BBC Worldwide and UK commercial broadcaster ITV.

Priced at $8.99 per month after a 7-day introductory free trial period, the service promises Canadians access to the largest collection of British TV content available, including Idris Elba’s drama Five by Five, the Rowan Atkinson drama Maigret, and four-part factual drama Little Boy Blue featuring Stephen Graham.

Other shows exclusive to BritBox include Silent WitnessReg, and Cold Feet as well as exclusive classic fare such as Keeping Up Appearances, Poirot, Classic Doctor Who, and Torchwood.

BritBox’s “Now” feature will also enable viewers to catch British dramas, news programs, and soaps within hours of their UK premiere.

“We know that Canadians have a deep affinity for British culture and the extraordinary television programs produced in the UK, so launching BritBox in Canada has always been at the top of our list”, said BritBox North America president Soumya Sriraman, in the announcement.  “The fact that we can also, for the first time ever, premiere some of the most popular British programs and big special events such as Trooping the Colour as soon as 24 hours after their UK premiere is – hopefully – the cherry on the sundae."

BritBox is available to Canadians now through web, iPhone, iPad, android phone and tablets, Apple TV, Chromecast, and Roku.
