The Invictus Games Toronto 2017 opening ceremony will take place on Saturday, September 23 while the closing ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, September 30. Bell Media is the exclusive Canadian broadcaster of the Games, and TSN and RDS will air competition coverage throughout the week.
Bell Media said Monday that the opening ceremony will feature performances by Alessia Cara, Sarah McLachlan and The Tenors. The closing ceremony, featuring superstars Bruce Springsteen, Bryan Adams, Bachman & Turner, Kelly Clarkson, and Coeur de pirate, will honour the achievements of the over 550 wounded, ill, and injured service members and veterans from 17 nations that are scheduled to participate.
"The calibre of talent performing at Invictus Games Toronto 2017 demonstrates the unifying force of the cause and importance of honouring the resiliency and courage of our service men and women," said Bell Media president Randy Lennox, in the news release. Established by Prince Harry in 2014, the Invictus Games is the only international adaptive sporting event for wounded, injured, and ill active duty and veteran service members.
