TORONTO – CTV unveiled more details Thursday about its new 5:00 PM news broadcasts that will soon air on its local CTV stations across Canada.

Aptly entitled CTV News At Five, the new one hour, locally focused shows will debut August 28 on CTV Saskatoon, CTV Regina, CTV Winnipeg, CTV Northern Ontario, CTV Ottawa and CTV Montreal.  CTV Saskatoon’s newscast will also include regular contributions from reporters at CTV Prince Albert and be simulcast in that market, while CTV Yorkton will simulcast CTV Regina’s show that will also include updates from local reporters.

CTV Kitchener will debut its show on September 18, and all CTV Kitchener newscasts will be available in high definition beginning September 25.

In Toronto, both CTV Toronto and CP24 air CP24 Live @ 5 and CP24 Live @ 5:30, while continuing to cross-simulcast CTV News At Six.

First announced in June, CTV said that the added news programming creates an additional 35 hours of original local production each week.  Previously, only CTV Vancouver, CTV Calgary, CTV Red Deer, CTV Edmonton, CTV Lethbridge, and CTV Atlantic offered 5:00 PM newscasts.
