Sky News launches in Canada on Vidéotron

OSTERLEY, U.K. – Sky News International and Origin Media announced last week the inaugural launch of Sky News in Canada with Vidéotron in Quebec.

The first carrier in Canada to provide this internationally recognized news channel, Vidéotron began offering Sky News to more than 1.6 million households, starting May 31st. Sky News can be now found in high definition on the carrier’s second generation terminals on channel 688.

Sky News was the first British 24/7 breaking news network when it launched in 1989. Origin Media of Halifax is the distribution agent for Sky News in Canada and is working with TV and other platforms in Canada to bring the channel to new audiences on a multi-platform basis. Origin Media has the Canadian license for Sky News and Riverhead Investments holds the license in another 16 countries in the America. Both are owned by Ann Petley-Jones. Canada is now the 12th country in which Sky News has launched in 2017.
