TORONTO – Accessible Media Inc. (AMI) is teaming up with Canadian Blind Hockey to provide live access to the fifth annual Canadian Blind Hockey Tournament through its AMI-audio TV.
Blind Hockey is a unique adaptive sport where a hollow puck that has ball bearings on the inside is used to help players identify play. The puck, which moves more slowly than traditional rubber discs, clangs loudly as it glides to help players track its movements. Blind Hockey Canada says that it is working towards bringing this sport to the 2026 Paralympics.
The tournament will run March 24 – 26 at Ryerson University ’s Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto. AMI-audio will air a live play-by-play of all games during the tournament and will also carry both the opening and medals ceremony with description, making the tournament accessible to the blind and low vision community.
This is the first time that the Canadian Blind Hockey Tournament will be broadcast live on AMI- audio.
“AMI has been a presenting sponsor of the Canadian Blind Hockey Tournament since its inception in 2013 and continues to support adaptive sport and community building,” said AMI programming and production VP John Melville, in the news release. “We are thrilled to be involved in such a worthwhile event and create a truly inclusive experience for our audience.”
