
TORONTO – CBC’s docu-drama series Canada: The Story Of Us will premiere with back-to-back episodes on March 26 at 8:00 PM (8:30 NT) before continuing in its regular timeslot Sundays at 9:00 PM (9:30 NT) starting on April 2.
Through a combination of fact-based drama, CGI sequences and documentary-style virtual reality experiences, the 10 x 60-minute series tells the extraordinary tale of the people, places and events that shaped Canada, including the stories of Indigenous peoples and immigrants, pioneers and rule breakers, and scientists and entrepreneurs who forged a nation in a vast and harsh land. It will also include commentary from prominent Canadians including Susan Aglukark, Lorne Cardinal, Paul Gross, Eugene Levy, Duncan McCue, Peter Mansbridge, Tatiana Maslany, Rick Mercer, Candy Palmater, Christopher Plummer, Lilly Singh, Georges St-Pierre, Clement Virgo, and David Suzuki. Canada: The Story Of Us will also be brought to life online through a trio of immersive, 360-degree videos that will put viewers inside key moments in Canadian history. The videos will be available at www.cbc.ca/canadathestoryofus and on Facebook for viewing on desktop, mobile and tablet devices.
Based on the international format created by Nutopia and produced in association with Bristow Global Media Inc., Canada: The Story Of Us kicks off CBC’s season of special 2017 programming, which also includes documentaries, radio programs, kids programming, entertainment and arts specials and innovative digital and virtual reality initiatives.
