TORONTO and NASHVILLE – Bell Media chief Randy Lennox continues to leverage his music contacts, announcing Monday that the company is teaming up with record executive Scott Borchetta and his Big Machine Label Group (BMLG) on a new worldwide TV music format.

The “entertainment initiative” will see Bell Media and BMLG work together to uncover, develop, and promote pop culture’s next musical superstars through new television, radio, recording, and live concert projects, reads the news release.  The highlight of the alliance is a unique television format that will use Bell Media’s reach and platforms to showcase musicians on the national and international stage. The companies said that they plan to take the format beyond Canada to help discover new musical voices worldwide.

Borchetta (pictured) is the founder, president, and CEO of Nashville-based BMLG, which counts superstars such as Taylor Swift, Florida Georgia Line, Steven Tyler, Tim McGraw, Reba, and Thomas Rhett amongst its roster of talent.  He also recently helped to coach contestants on the final two seasons of American Idol, and Big Machine Records is the musical home to CMT TV series Nashville, which aired on CTV Two in Canada at one point.

“Bell Media builds upon its commitment to artist development with this new initiative, and with whom better to align than the best in the business, Scott Borchetta,” said Randy Lennox, Bell Media’s president of broadcasting and content, in the release.

“Bell Media has a track record of success in live music production, extensive platforms, and leading promotion of homegrown talent in many areas,” added Borchetta. “Together, our strengths make us strong partners to lift this global project off the ground.”
