TORONTO – RTDNA Canada will expand its awards program in 2017 in recognition of the growing importance of digital, adding more network categories and awards for live network sports programming.
The association also said that its board is currently reviewing and updating its by-laws and membership categories, and that plans are underway for its 2017 national conference, scheduled for May 26 – 27 in Toronto, under the theme of ‘Connecting Audiences in the Age of Mistrust’.
“2017 will present many challenges both at home and internationally as journalists and the craft itself continue to come under increasing pressure both economically as well as politically”, the association said in a statement to members. “RTDNA Canada will remain steadfast in its commitment to being a strong voice of electronic and digital journalists and news managers in Canada. The members of RTDNA Canada recognize the responsibility of broadcast and digital journalists to promote and to protect the freedom to report independently about matters of public interest and to present a wide range of expressions, opinions and ideas.”
