More ‘Kim’s Convenience’ coming to CBC

TORONTO – CBC has ordered a second season of original comedy Kim’s Convenience, the public broadcaster confirmed Tuesday.

A CBC original series produced by Thunderbird Entertainment in association with Soulpepper, the series will return with a 13-epsiode sophomore season in fall 2017.  CBC said the first season, which will wrap up December 27 at 8:00 PM (8:30 NT) with two back-to-back episodes, drew an impressive average audience of 933,000 per episode to date (2+ AMA), with 39% of viewers in the 25 – 54 demographic.

“Canadians have fallen in love with the Kims. The series has struck a chord among viewers of all ages with its unique perspective and its authentic, relatable and hilarious take on family relationships,” said CBC programming GM Sally Catto, in the news release.  “We couldn’t be more thrilled with how CBC audiences have responded to the series and its talented cast, and look forward to partnering with Thunderbird and Soulpepper to bring fans a second season in 2017.”

Kim’s Convenience airs Tuesdays at 9:00 PM (9:30 NT) on CBC and is also available to stream online
