CTAM Canada Broadcaster’s Forum to examine content innovation, relevance, virtual reality

TORONTO – Tickets are now on sale for next month’s CTAM Canada Broadcaster Forum.

Scheduled for December 1 starting at 1:00 PM at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto, the fourth annual event will focus on Innovation in the Pay TV ecosystem and offer five distinct sessions including exclusive, Canadian-specific market research, two moderated panels of industry leaders, and a Q&A between Cartt.ca editor and publisher Greg O’Brien and CBC’s EVP English Services Heather Conway.  A networking reception will follow the event.

Session #1: Technology & Television Innovation – “The requirement to stay relevant

Industry professional Norm Lem moderates an engaging panel of industry leaders on the ways in which distributors are evolving their platforms to remain relevant to today’s customers, covering topics such as Set Top Box capability, User Interface, TV Everywhere, Product integration, Search and more. 

Panelists include:

  • Tom Elam, VP and GM, Service Provider Business, TiVo

  • Jay Gardner, Director of Product Development, Shaw Communications

  • Joel Orvis, Director, TV Product Management, Bell Canada.

 

Session #2: VR 101 – “Virtual Reality is here and this is why you should care”  

Led by VR Advisor Laura Mingail and Stefan Grambart from Secret Location, this session will teach you everything you need to know about Virtual Reality.

 

Session #3: A Conversation with CBC/Radio Canada’s Heather Conway

Two years into its plan to become more digital, more local, and more ambitious with its content, the CBC is on a roll.  Heather Conway is sitting down with Cartt.ca editor and publisher Greg O’Brien for a candid exchange about the opportunities, challenges and the road ahead for Canada's public broadcaster. 

 

Session #4: CTAM Canada Video Consumption Research Presentation

Join Charlton Strategic Research principal Gord Hendren as he presents an interactive look at insights from 2016 CTAM Canada’s Video Consumption Research study. 

 

Session #5: Trends in Content Innovation – “A look at how content is changing

Moderated by Canadian media icon Alan Cross, this panel is sure to be both entertaining and informative as panelists discuss how content is responding to changing consumer needs and increased competition in the global market.

Panelists include:
