WATERLOO, ON – Technology start-up company KidsWifi is offering a new Internet safety device that it says will shield kids from Internet content that their parents don’t want them to see.
Available now in Canada and the U.S., the compact device plugs into any home electrical outlet and connects to the home WiFi network. After parents adjust its settings, Kids Wifi blocks inappropriate online materials from every Internet-connected device inside the home. It also offers a dashboard with analytics that allows parents to view blocked sites, blocked ads and websites that the children have recently viewed, plus has features like an automatic bedtime shut-off and morning turn-on that can be customized to a child's schedule.
Launched Thursday at the inaugural FUZEnation Tech + Music Summit in Kitchener, KidsWifi's official spokesperson is ET Canada's Cheryl Hickey, while Jazmyn Bieber, sister of Justin Bieber, is the tech start-up's official Kid Ambassador.
“The Internet should be a place of safe discovery and learning but not while under constant threat from malicious individuals that want, and hope, to take advantage of our children”, said KidsWifi co-founder John Stix, in the news release. “KidsWifi is a simple product to use that delivers huge comfort once and for all. We couldn't be happier to find out that our KidsWifi device was selected as product of the event at FUZEnation 2016.”
