
MUSKOKA, ON – Lakeland Networks has begun rolling out 1 Gigabit fibre service to rural homes and businesses in Ontario’s Muskoka area.
The municipally-owned company said Wednesday that it’s rural residential Internet service costs $94.95 per month for unlimited data usage plus free home phone service which includes 1,000 minutes of long distance calls within North America.
The $8.6 million project to extend Lakeland's existing fibre network was made possible with $5.7 million from the Small Communities Fund, which provides taxpayer funding for public infrastructure projects that deliver on local needs.
"We are very thankful for our federal-provincial partnership which we hope to build on, to provide high speed internet to more customers in rural Muskoka and other parts of Ontario" said Lakeland Holding Ltd. CEO Chris Litschko, in the news release. "We're well ahead of plan both in fibre construction and customer connections due to the quality and commitment of our great team."
