TORONTO – Telus Health has wrapped up its acquisition of Nightingale Informatix Corp.'s Canadian business operations, including its proprietary Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software and nearly 5,000 physician customers across Ontario, Western Canada and Atlantic Canada.

First announced in July, the deal also includes the transition of 42 Nightingale employees to Telus Health.

The move broadens the company's electronic medical records customer base in Ontario and Atlantic Canada, further advancing Canada's connected healthcare ecosystem, reads the news release.

"Canada has made great strides in the last few years in transitioning from paper to digital in our primary healthcare clinics, which is where over 70 per cent of patient interactions take place," said Telus Health president Paul Lepage, in the release. "We look forward to welcoming a new group of physicians to our community of users, and working with them to unleash the next stage of healthcare transformation in Canada: the ability to collaborate more effectively with other medical practitioners by sharing key patient information, and transact electronically and directly through their EMR."

"Telus was the first Canadian company to see the potential of connected health and to act on its vision throughout the years”, added Nightingale CEO Sam Chebib.  “With a consolidating marketplace, they were for us the best positioned to continue leading in this space, serve the customers we've worked so hard with over the years, and ensure they evolve successfully along with Canada's digital healthcare transformation."
