HAMILTON – Channel Zero announced today that CHCH will return to providing live weekend news broadcasts this fall. Beginning Saturday, October 29, live, half-hour broadcasts of the CHCH Evening News will air weekly on both Saturdays and Sundays at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.
“We’ve heard it loudly from our viewers as well as from our advertisers, and we’re proud that we can meet the request” said Mike Katrycz, vice president, news, Channel Zero, in a press release. “We’ve always known instinctively that getting our news coverage back to 7 days a week was the right next step, and we are very pleased to provide even more coverage for the Hamilton, Halton, and Niagara areas that rely on us.”
“We are grateful for the viewer feedback, because it demonstrates the high expectations they have of us,” said Chris Fuoco, vice president, sales and marketing, Channel Zero. “We listened to our viewers when they told us they wanted Morning Live to start an hour earlier at 6 a.m., and we continue to listen to feedback to better serve our community every weekday – and soon every weekend too.”
As readers will recall, CHCH undertook a major restructuring late last year, when it's parent, Channel 11 LP filed for bankruptcy, which saw the weekend news, as well as some other programming, cut, along with many employees.
