TORONTO – Global News is expanding its early-evening national newscast Global National to four additional television markets plus will soon launch new local morning shows in two of them, the Corus-owned station said Thursday.

Starting immediately, Global National will air on Newcap-owned CKSA in Lloydminster, on the Alberta/Saskatchewan border, and will debut on Corus’ CKWS Kingston, CHEX Peterborough and Channel 12 Durham, all in Ontario, on September 6.  The program will be broadcast at 5:30 PM local time in each city.

Global News will also unveil new local versions of the network morning program The Morning Show on CKWS Kingston on October 17 and on CHEX Peterborough on October 24, offering local morning news to those markets for the first time.  The shows will air from 6:00 – 9:00 AM ET and include local news and community interviews plus network cut-ins from Global’s national team.

Global National is Canada’s most dynamic national newscast and we’re thrilled to see it expand to new audiences,” said Troy Reeb, SVP Global News and Corus Radio, in the news release.  “Corus is also committed to local programming and we’re so excited to add new, local versions of The Morning Show in these two great Ontario cities, to not only share the stories that shape their communities, but also those that band the country together.”
