Sportsnet drafts World Cup of Hockey sponsors

TORONTO – As the puck prepares to drop on the World Cup of Hockey 2016 later this month, Sportsnet unveiled its lineup of sponsors for its English-language coverage that will span TV, radio, digital and print platforms.

Sportsnet said that its “broadcast partners” for the eight team international tournament will include Scotiabank, Molson Coors, Advil, Honda, Rogers, Sonnet, Visa, and Sport Chek.

“The World Cup of Hockey is going to be one of the biggest and best events in 2016 and it will be a second-to-none experience for Canadian hockey fans to host it on home ice,” said Anthony Attard, Sportsnet’s VP sports and NHL sales, in the news release.  “With the help of our tremendous broadcast partners, Canadians will have unparalleled access to every moment of the World Cup through innovative, seamlessly integrated content across all of Sportsnet’s platforms. We’re tremendously proud of our team of world-class sponsors as we collaborate to deliver the ultimate fan experience across Sportsnet’s coverage.”

TVA Sports holds the Canadian French-language multimedia rights, and will be the exclusive Francophone broadcaster of the tournament.

Returning after a 12-year hiatus, the World Cup of Hockey 2016 is a joint effort of the NHLPA and the NHL, in cooperation with the International Ice Hockey Federation.  The tournament will run September 17 – October 1st, 2016.
