TORONTO – Bell Media’s president of content sales, marketing and digital products, Domenic Vivolo, is leaving the company at the end of next week, Cartt.ca has learned.

Vivolo, who came to Bell when it purchased Astral Media, was promoted to the position just last year when the company was restructured by Bell Media president Mary Ann Turcke. He was responsible for the distribution, licensing and marketing of all Bell Media content (conventional networks, specialty and premium pay channels and non-linear), as well as overseeing the strategic direction and development of Bell Media digital products.

Prior to this position, Vivolo was executive vice president, content sales and distribution marketing and senior vice president and general manager, pay television.

In a message to staff, Vivolo noted his departure is coming on his own terms. “It was not an easy decision for me, but one that I think is necessary. I have dedicated my time here to working and driving the business forward, and now I’m going to spend more time with my supportive family enjoying more of what life has to offer. I have no immediate plans other than to do some travelling and begin narrowing down the list of things I would like to pursue,” he wrote.

“I consider myself very fortunate and honoured to have worked with and led such a talented group of individuals. Your passion, perseverance, and dedication are the reasons for our success and we accomplished a lot together.”

“During his nearly 16 years with the company, Domenic has played a major role in leading our strategies for both linear and non-linear distribution, including successfully negotiating Bell Media’s BDU carriage agreements,” said Turke in her own message to staff.

“Domenic recently oversaw the alignment of our digital business, uniting all functions relating to digital strategy and products under one team, while developing the digital roadmap that will secure the future success of our business. Please join me in thanking Domenic for his many contributions over the years and wishing him all the best in his next endeavour.”

Vivolo also sent a memo to his BDU clients, writing: “I truly enjoyed my time working in the Media business, mostly because I have been able to work with such talented people like you. We have been able to grow our mutual businesses with some very creative business models, as well as launch innovative and industry leading products. Your cooperation and openness have been invaluable.

“It has been an absolute pleasure doing business with you and your team. I would like to thank you for your support and your business over the years. I’m sure at times we were both frustrated by each other’s actions, but somehow we persevered and found solutions in order to grow the businesses.”

Vivolo’s successor will be announced next week.
