TORONTO – Corus Entertainment has extended its partnership with Turner's Cartoon Network in a new multi-year deal that will also see its production and distribution arm Nelvana become the exclusive merchandising agent for the channel's brands in Canada.
The company said Thursday that Nelvana will develop an array of licensed merchandise for Cartoon Network's properties to help push the re-launch of The Powerpuff Girls (pictured) this fall and Ben 10 in 2017. The new categories include secondary and seasonal toys, softlines, food and beverage, sporting goods, and consumer electronics.
“We are delighted to expand our relationship with Cartoon Network and its dynamic roster of fan-favourite brands," said Colin Bohm, Nelvana’s EVP international development and corporate strategy, in the news release. "Cartoon Network Canada continues to delight our audiences with its terrific lineup of shows and we're thrilled to be enhancing the fan experience through a wide range of merchandise that enables them to engage with the brands in exciting new ways."
