
SAINT-HYACINTHE, QC – Residential and business customers of Groupe Maskatel will soon have access to Internet speeds of up to 1 Gbps, the company annouced this week.
The new packages will be available later this month in the municipality of Saint-Guillaume and in select areas of Drummondville and Saint-Hyacinthe. The service will expand to all service areas in Montérégie and Centre-du-Québec (where the technology permits) by this Fall.
Residential packages will vary between 25/10 Mbps and 1G/100 Mbps, with unlimited download capacity. Business packages will vary between 25/25 Mbps and 1G/250 Mbps.
"There's a growing need for a strong connection for smartphones, tablets, smart TVs and other connected devices," said president and CEO Jules Grenier, in the news release. "Consumers are demanding reliable, affordable and ever-faster connections. The packages we're rolling out today not only meet current demand, but also anticipate future needs."
In related news, Groupe Maskatel also officially opened a high-end laboratory in its Drummondville facility this week. Nearly $1 million was invested to recreate the company's network in order to test equipment and its compatibility, resolve technical problems and to improve processes. This comes one week after opening a new customer contact centre in Saint-Hyacinthe that consolidates its customer contact activities in the Montérégie region.
Groupe Maskatel provides Internet, high-definition TV, telephone and IP telephone services to business and residential customers in Saint-Hyacinthe, Drummondville, Trois-Rivières and Beauce.
