TORONTO and NEW YORK – Fight Network has inked a programming deal with U.K.-based Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) to air a weekly wrestling series in Canada, the U.S., and globally in over 30 countries in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Based in Glasgow, Scotland, ICW was founded by Mark Dallas in 2006 and gained its first national and international exposure in the documentary The British Wrestler and BBC series Insane Fight Club. The professional wrestling promotion company features a roster that includes regional talent such as ICW World Champion 'Big' Damo, Doug Williams, Joe Coffey and Wolfgang, plus international superstars like Drew Galloway, Grado, Bram, Ken Anderson, Sabu and Rhino. ICW regularly tours the U.K. and has broken attendance records in its native Scotland.
The one-hour series will air on Friday's at 1:00 AM ET in Canada, anchoring a late-night expansion of Fight Network’s international professional wrestling block on Thursdays, which already includes AAA: Lucha Libre Worldwide and CMLL Wrestling from Mexico.
“The U.K. has rapidly established itself as a hotbed for professional wrestling talent and ICW has led the charge for years,” said Fight Network VP Chad Midgley, in the news release. “Many of the stars featured on these shows have gone on to achieve great success in North America and abroad, so we’re confident this series will resonate with Fight Network subscribers around the world.”
“ICW has grown at an extraordinary rate over the past few years and the next natural step would be to expand our reach worldwide,” added ICW manager director Mark Dallas. “Fight Network has provided us with that opportunity and we look forward to working with them as both our brands continue to grow around the world.”
