REGINA – Access Communications has acquired wireless Internet and cable company Little Loon Wireless and Askivision in an effort to expand the reach of its business. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Saskatchewan-owned and operated Little Loon Wireless and Askivision are based in Saskatoon, and have more than 3500 customers throughout the central area of the province.
Access said Wednesday that the investment allows it to tap into demand for a quality Internet provider in rural areas, as well as provide services to customers outside of cities, towns and villages.
“We’re committed to serving Saskatchewan communities with exceptional communications and entertainment products,” said Access CEO Jim Deane, in the news release. “We’re excited about growing our Internet business and expanding our services throughout Saskatchewan.”
“Preserving Saskatchewan ownership was a key factor in our decision to approach Access Communications,” added former Askivision and Little Loon Wireless owner Don Wohlberg. “Their commitment to their employees, communities and customer service is outstanding.”
Access Communications is a 100% Saskatchewan-owned, non-profit co-operative that provides communications and entertainment services. It reinvests 100% of its earnings into the 229 communities it serves.
