SEATTLE – Subscription music service Napster launched in Canada on Monday, offering ad-free access to more than 35 million songs for both streaming and offline playback.
Priced at $9.99 per month, Canadian users can get three months of Napster for $1.00, reads the news release. Available in both official languages, Napster is on iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Web, Sonos, Chromecast, and supported by several auto manufacturers.
In addition to curated playlists that include top Canadian artists, the service offers an option for little listeners at no extra cost, the ability to download music and listen in offline mode, and a recommendation feature that delivers new music weekly to users’ music inbox.
"Napster is bringing a better way to play music to Canada," said Napster CFO Ethan Rudin, in the release. "With a deep catalogue of local artists, hand-curated playlists, and the first music experience for kids, Napster is customized specifically for Canadian music fans. It was important to us that we enter Canada with a personalized music experience that has a complete catalogue of local, national and international artists."
