TORONTO – Former Bell Media exec Laurie McAllister has been appointed director of ACTRA Toronto’s independent and broadcast production department, effective immediately.
McAllister left Bell Media where she was the director, business affairs of in-house production to succeed ACTRA Toronto’s outgoing director of independent and broadcast production, Mimi Wolch, who has stepped in to the role of interim managing director at Film Ontario.
“We are thrilled to welcome Laurie to ACTRA Toronto,” said ACTRA Toronto executive director Sue Milling, in the announcement. “Her extensive experience with Bell Media in Business and Legal Affairs and her background in independent production, including as former Manager of Development and Business Affairs at Radical Sheep Productions, make her a valuable addition to the ACTRA Toronto team.”
Milling added that McAllister will work closely with her in the current round of independent production agreement (IPA) bargaining which kicked off this week in Toronto.
ACTRA Toronto is the largest organization within ACTRA, representing over 15,000 of Canada’s 22,000 professional performers working in the English-language recorded media in Canada.
