
NEW ORLEANS, LA – Comcast EVP and CTO Tony Werner has been elected chairman of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) board for the 2015-’16 term, the organization announced this week from its annual engineering extravaganza.
At a meeting held in conjunction with SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2015, the SCTE board of directors also elected a full slate of officers for the coming year. Werner is joined on the 2015-’16 SCTE board’s executive committee by:
– Vice-chairman: Bill Warga, VP of technology, Liberty Global;
– Treasurer: Christine Whitaker, SVP of operations, Comcast; and
– Secretary: Steve Williams, director of access network planning, design and operations, Time Warner Cable.
In related news, Comcast EVP and chief network officer John Schanz will serve as program committee chairman for SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2016. Hosted by SCTE and its global brand, the International Society of Broadband Experts (ISBE), SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2016 is scheduled for September 26-29 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
