CANNES – Corus Entertainment has nailed down two pre-market U.S. deals for two of the three unscripted reality series that it had readied for international sale at MIPCOM.
The company this week announced the sale of Cheer Stars (working title – pictured left) to ABC Family and the U.S. broadcast rights of the renovation series Masters of Flip (pictured right) to Scripps Networks Interactive, Inc. Both series, as well as the real estate series Buying the View, are part of a growing slate of properties for international distribution, in conjunction with Corus’ recently announced strategy to own and distribute more content.
“We’re thrilled to be teaming up with these top-rated U.S. networks to introduce Corus’ original series to new audiences,” said John MacDonald, Corus’ EVP television, head of Women and Family, in the news release. “These broadcast deals significantly expand the exposure for our original content and we look forward to sharing our growing slate of unscripted programming to the international market at MIPCOM.”
