CALGARY – Shaw Communications has launched a number of new programs designed to bring sports fans even closer to their favourite Canadian Football League teams and players.

The initiatives include:

– Team Shaw: a weekly player spotlight program that gives fans greater access to their favourite CFL stars.  Calgary Stampeders' quarterback and reigning Grey Cup MVP Bo Levi Mitchell (pictured) has been named the first member;

– ShawRoadtotheGreyCup.ca: a digital hub that will serve as a central point for CFL content, plus permit fans to contribute and share their own content; and

– Shaw CFL Top Performers Program: a weekly and monthly player achievement program recognizing individual excellence in the CFL.

Shaw said that it is also launching a new integrated marketing, social and public relations campaign running through to the end of the CFL season to promote all of the programs.  Beginning this weekend, Shaw Road to the Grey Cup will also be featured throughout CFL broadcasts on TSN and RDS.

The new programs are part of a partnership agreement announced in May that named Shaw the official telecommunications provider of the CFL and the first ever presenting partner of the Grey Cup.

"CFL fans are passionate about their favourite players and teams and we can't wait to provide them the ability to connect with the league in new and innovative ways," said Jim Little, Shaw’s SVP and chief marketing officer, in the news release. "Like millions of Canadians, we grew up watching the CFL. As we head into the second half of the season, the Shaw Road to the Grey Cup will be filled with exciting matchups and classic Canadian football, and we are thrilled to be part of it all."

The 103rd Grey Cup will take place at Investors Group Field in Winnipeg on November 29, 2015.
