TORONTO – Inspired by the upcoming federal election, TLN television is rolling out a series of cheeky, politics-themed promos in support of its new and returning TV shows.

The series of spots, which launch on-air and online this week, promotes TLN’s shows and personalities by playing on “stereotypical political ads with bold promises and bombastic declarations”, reads Wednesday’s news release.

Viewers are encouraged to visit the channel's website and cast their votes for their favorite TLN “candidates” and “parties”.

“We are having a little fun with the political posturing we see all around us these days, but we are also providing a valuable public service message”, said TLN president Aldo Di Felice, in the release.  “Viewers are reminded that political promises are sometimes as silly as these parodies. It is everyone’s civic duty to be media literate and view political messages critically.”

Available nationally in over 6.2 million Canadian homes, TLN broadcasts a wide variety of Canadian and international programming in English, Spanish and Italian.
