OTTAWA – Quebec educational network Télé-Québec has joined CBC News, CTV News, Global News and ICI Radio-Canada in the Broadcast Consortium organizing debates for the upcoming 2015 Federal Election.
The broadcasters also announced that CPAC will broadcast the 2015 Leaders' Debates in French and English.
The 2015 Leaders' Debates organized by the broadcasters will be offered across all platforms with closed captioning and simultaneous translation, and will be made available for other media outlets to distribute, reads the announcement. Together with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Vine, Google and YouTube, the debates will reach millions of Canadians across the country and abroad, on multiple platforms, in both official languages.
"Recognized for showcasing diverse opinions where all societal and political issues are addressed openly and without any taboos, Télé-Québec aims to be accessible and attentive to Quebecers' concerns”, said Denis Dubois, executive director of programming at Télé-Québec, in the announcement. “It's therefore a natural fit that we contribute to public debate by airing for our viewers this program featuring the leaders of the main political parties."
