Steinmetz named chair of Re:Sound’s BoD

TORONTO – Music licensing company Re:Sound has elected Peter Steinmetz as chairperson of its Board of Directors.

After starting a successful music industry practice in 1970, Steinmetz went on to serve several terms as managing partner of Toronto law firm Cassels Brock & Blackwell and was appointed Queens Counsel in 1983. During his tenure he represented a wide range of clients in the entertainment field, including artists, labels and industry organisations.

His board experience includes president of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) and executive producer of the Juno Awards (1983 – 1992); chairperson of the Board of the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame (2005-2009); and vice-chairperson of the Ontario Media Development Corporation (1995 – 2010).

Steinmetz will join existing Re:Sound board members Annie Morin (ARTISTI), Graham Henderson (CONNECT), Stuart Johnston (CIMA), Lyette Bouchard (SOPROQ), Brad Keenan (ACTRA RACS) and David Jandrisch (MROC).
