REGINA – SaskTel has launched a new mobile payments solution allowing customers to make purchases using only their Android or BlackBerry device and their banks’ mobile payments application.
The service is currently available only to TD customers, with other financial institutions to be added in the future. To make a mobile payment, customers must download the app, set up their payments card, and then may tap at any contactless payment terminal to pay with their smartphone instead of their credit card.
“SaskTel and our customers embrace innovative technology and believe that it exists to simplify and enhance our day to day life,” said president and CEO Ron Styles, in the news release. “We are very excited to launch this service and plan to offer this functionality to our customers with other financial institutions in the near future.”
SaskTel added that it will not charge any additional transaction fees or data usage for mobile payments transactions that are processed.
