MONTREAL – TVA Group said that it is the first Quebec media group to partner with Twitter Canada to offer viewers an enhanced television experience.
The company is integrating Twitter tools Periscope and the Twitter Mirror into two of its big programming events – the grand finale of La Voix on April 12 at 7:30 PM, and the red carpet at the 30th Gala Artis on April 26 at 7:00 PM.
Recently launched in Canada, the Periscope app allows users to share and experience live video from their mobile, while the Twitter Mirror allows users to generate animated GIF images through its interactive screen, and has proven popular behind the scenes at major events like the Grey Cup, the Juno Awards and the Much Music Video Awards.
"Since the beginning, TVA Group wanted to offer Quebecers a more intimate experience. In this respect, Twitter is a powerful tool, said Suzane Landry, TVA Group’s senior director of programming, in the news release. "We are very proud to be the first media group selected by Twitter Canada as a partner in Quebec. We see this as recognition of our leadership in the digital space and of our efforts to be a forerunner in the media landscape, bridging the gap between networks and social media platforms."
“As the social soundtrack to live television, Twitter allows users to engage in real-time conversations that extend far beyond their living rooms”, added Lindsay Lynch, head of TV, entertainment, and music for Twitter Canada. “The platform has found a spot in the homes of Quebecers as a second screen of choice for live television programs and we are excited to be working closely with TVA Group for the season finale of La Voix and the 30th anniversary of Gala Artis.”
