ZURICH, ON – Independent telco Hay Communications has connected its 5,000th Internet customer, a move that the company celebrated as “an amazing corporate achievement”.

Located in southwestern Ontario, Hay is a co-operative that provides Internet, phone and television services to the communities of Grand Bend, Zurich, Mt. Carmel, Exeter, Dashwood and surrounding rural and lakeshore residents.

Hay said that it chose not to award a prize to its 5000th customer because the credit rests with every subscriber over the past two decades that has helped to build its infrastructure.

“I want to thank our entire organization, as well as our customers and partners," said general manager Angela Schneider, in a statement.  “We stand by the principals our past managers and board built our business on. A co-operative model, where we provide the highest quality telecommunication services to rural communities – services they need and may not get from providers servicing larger urban centres, and all at reasonable prices.  Still to this day we strive to keep fees competitive and earnestly assist customers to keep their data fees manageable while also operating a successful small business.”
