
REGINA – SaskTel is extending its high speed Internet service to two more communities in Saskatchewan.
Effective immediately, residents of of Flaxcombe and Rama may sign on for High Speed Basic Internet, with download speeds of up to 5 Mbps, and High Speed Advanced Internet that offers download speeds of up to 10 Mbps.
The expanded High Speed Internet services to Flaxcombe are provided through SaskTel’s Shared Model Program, which gives communities the opportunity to partner with SaskTel to assist financing expansion.
This expansion is part of the long-term strategy to increase access to high speed Internet in rural Saskatchewan that was introduced at the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities 2013 annual conference. This strategy includes upgrading speeds to 10 Mbps download in over 220 existing DSL communities, in addition to expanding SaskTel high speed Internet with speeds of up to 10 Mbps to 50 additional communities. SaskTel provides DSL Internet access to over 400 communities and First Nations in Saskatchewan.
