MONTREAL – Bell Canada is congratulating the federal government on its announcement of a six-year, $200 million investment in the mental health of members of the Canadian Armed Forces, veterans and their families.

Bell, which also support Veterans Affairs Canada's ‘Hire a Veteran’ initiative, has long partnered with the federal government and the True Patriot Love Foundation to support Canada's military. As part of Bell Let's Talk, the four-year Bell True Patriot Love Fund is distributing $1 million in grants to help fund programs delivering community-based mental health care to military families who need support.  Launched in 2013, the Fund has already distributed grants to 32 organizations across the country, many of them Military Family Resource Centres (MFRCs).

"Canadian Armed Forces members and their families face particular mental health challenges unique to the circumstances of the lives they live in service of all Canadians," said Mary Deacon, chair of the Bell Let's Talk mental health initiative, in the news release.  "We commend the work being done by the departments of National Defence and Veterans' Affairs to support the men and women who face mental illness as a result of their service to the country, including this latest commitment of an additional $200 million."
