TORONTO – In the first of two announcements designed to raise the international profile of Nelvana’s key brands, Corus Entertainment said that it is teaming up with U.S. mobile technology company Fingerprint to create a mobile entertainment platform for kids aged two to seven.
Set to launch globally in 2015, the platform will offer preschoolers a safe, fun and branded environment to enjoy videos, games, music and eBooks featuring their favourite Nelvana characters including Max & Ruby, Little Bear, Franklin (pictured) and The Berenstain Bears.
As Cartt.ca reported, Corus first invested in San Francisco-based Fingerprint in 2012 as part of its strategy to expand into new markets and unlock additional value in Nelvana's library of branded content.
In the second announcement, Nelvana has appointed Santa Monica-based digital media company Kin Community to manage and optimize its content offerings on YouTube.
The partnership will leverage Kin’s expertise in the non-linear space to expand Nelvana’s global presence on YouTube channels and drive engagement with its key brands, including Max & Ruby, Franklin, Babar and The Adventures of Badou and The Berenstain Bears.
The agreement follows Corus’ strategic partnership with Kin Community that created Kin Canada. Kin Canada combines Kin Community’s Canadian creators and audience with Corus’s portfolio of women’s TV properties to offer unique cross-platform opportunities to advertising brands in Canada.
Kin Community has attracted more than 28 million network subscribers and almost 5 billion lifetime video views.
