OMNI to ice NHL content in 22 languages

TORONTO – OMNI Television is offering Canadians new to hockey the chance to jump on the bandwagon through exclusive, multilingual NHL content in 22 languages with Hockey Night in Canada: Punjabi Edition, Your Hockey weekly segments, and Hockey 101, beginning the week of September 29.

Giving Punjabi-speaking audiences a front-row seat to the action, OMNI Television will air Hockey Night in Canada in Punjabi every Saturday night, beginning October 11.  For audiences who wish to learn about hockey in their community, the weekly segment Your Hockey will air in Cantonese, Mandarin, Punjabi, and Italian in their respective national news broadcasts and include tips on buying hockey equipment as well as profiles of local hockey-related personalities.

New vignette series Hockey 101 will helps new Canadians better understand the basic principles of hockey and commonly-used terms on the ice.  It will premiere in Cantonese, English, French, Italian, Mandarin, Portuguese, Punjabi, and Tagalog (Filipino), an additional 14 languages will be added on-air and online shortly following: Arabic, Farsi, Greek, Hindi, Korean, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Somali, Tamil, Ukrainian, Urdu, and Vietnamese.
