
WINNIPEG – Barbara Fraser has been appointed to the board of directors of Manitoba Telecom Services (MTS Allstream), replacing Jocelyne M. Côté-O'Hara who is retiring after 17 years of service.
Fraser spent 24 years at Procter & Gamble, where she was the fastest rising woman in the marketing ranks, and ultimately, ran both the paper and beauty care products businesses in Canada as general manager. She has also held a number of executive positions including chairman and CEO of Citicorp Investment Services and Citicorp Insurance Group and chairman and CEO of IDS Life Insurance Company.
In addition, Fraser continues to serve on the boards of Ivey School of Business, Gerber Life Insurance Company, MD Life Insurance Company, and Economical Insurance Group. She has been honoured as Ivey Board Member Emeritus for her distinguished service and inducted into the Academy of Women Achievers, YWCA of the City of New York.

"We believe her strong experience, especially in marketing and business strategy will enhance our Board's breadth of skills and expertise and will be extremely valuable to the Company in achieving its strategic and financial goals."
Côté-O'Hara joined the board of directors of the Company in 1997 and has served on the human resources and governance and nominating committees. She has had more than 30 years in the telecom and technology industries as an executive, director and advisor including appointments as vice president of BC Tel and president and CEO of Stentor Alliance Company.
The board of directors of the company continues to be comprised of 11 directors, four of whom are women.
