TORONTO – Music streaming service Rdio has been crowned the official music partner of this year's Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Rdio will kick off the Festival’s opening weekend with a lineup of local and international musicians performing free public shows in the Rdio Music Zone, located at 335 King St. W, from September 4 – 7.  On September 6, it will present triple platinum singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding live in concert at Toronto’s historic Massey Hall.

The service's interactive presence at the Festival includes a listening station near the intersection of Simcoe St. and King St. where fans can check out music from Rdio’s catalogue of more than 25 million songs.  Rdio House at 335 King St. W is a musical hub for industry leaders and Festival-goers to relax and recharge with live music, giveaways, Rdio product demos, and free food and drink right next door to the Festival’s home base at the TIFF Bell Lightbox.  For those who can’t make it to Toronto for the film fest, TIFF.net will host an Rdio music player from the festival’s official site, complemented by TIFF-curated playlists available at Rdio.com.

“Rdio is teaming up with the Toronto International Film Festival to provide an unforgettable listening experience that amplifies all the exciting activities on Festival Street,” said CEO Anthony Bay, in the news release.  “Canada is our second largest market and we continue to invest in creating powerful connections to music here.  We’re thrilled to be part of the Festival, one of the country’s most important cultural organizations.”

TIFF runs from September 4 – 14, 2014.
