REGINA – Saskatoon’s Credit Union Centre will soon be known as the SaskTel Centre after the provincial Crown corporation purchased the facility’s naming rights for the next 10 years.
The deal will see SaskTel pay $350,000 per year for the rights, and the venue will become known as SaskTel Centre effective October 1, 2014. In addition, SaskTel remains the exclusive communications provider to the facility and will continue to provide in-building wireless coverage for both voice and data services, plus will install its maxTV service in the venue’s luxury suites and in other select locations.
“SaskTel has been a proud sponsor of the venue for more than 15 years and this partnership will provide the platform for SaskTel to showcase its leading edge service and technology capabilities within the venue,” said SaskTel president and CEO Ron Styles, in the news release. “This is another example of our commitment to being actively involved in the communities in which our employees and customers work and live.”
Credit Union Centre, which opened in February 1988, is Saskatchewan’s top venue for large-scale musical productions as well as home of the Saskatoon Blades Hockey Club of the Western Hockey League.
