Discovery’s ‘Daily Planet’ celebrates 20 years with extreme machines

TORONTO – Discovery Channel’s flagship science show Daily Planet is turning 20 next month, and will mark the milestone with a week of themed programming featuring tricked-out technology.

‘Extreme Machines Week’, which begins August 25 at 7:00 PM ET through August 29, will see co-hosts Ziya Tong and Dr. Dan Riskin delight over the likes of extreme tractors, mobile hot tubs, a manure shredder and a jet-powered football.

Discovery said that Daily Planet’s preceding 19th season ranked as the most-watched in the show’s history, reaching more than1.5 million viewers in the average week. In addition, Discovery was the #1 Canadian Entertainment Specialty channel in the Daily Planet timeslot (Monday-Friday, 7-8 PM ET) among Adults 25-54, Adults 18-49, and Adults 18-34 (as well as Men 25-54, Men 18-49, and Men 18-34).
