TORONTO – Corus Entertainment is teaming up with TD Bank Group in support of Frontier College’s annual Aboriginal Summer Literacy Camps.

Since 2005, Frontier College has responded to the need for quality learning supports for Aboriginal children during the summer months with its Summer Literacy Camps, which has grown from an original five camps in northern Ontario to a robust program serving more than 80 communities across Canada.  The focus of this year’s program is to help nourish the bodies and minds of young children in Aboriginal communities across the country.

Corus is helping to raise awareness of the camps through PSA support across its radio, television and online assets.  A 30-second spot will begin airing July 28 for two weeks on Corus' TV channels.

The company is also donating books, materials and activities from the popular Franklin the Turtle series through its publishing division Kids Can Press and its national philanthropic initiative, Corus Feeds Kids.  Established in 2012, Corus Feeds Kids focuses on nourishing Canadian children’s bodies and minds by providing proper nourishment needed for healthy development and long-term success.  The goal of the initiative is to raise $3 million and contribute 3000 volunteer hours in three years.

“Corus is pleased to be teaming up with TD Bank Group on this literacy camp initiative with Frontier College through our Corus Feeds Kids program,” said Corus president and CEO John Cassaday, in the news release.  “Corus is committed to supporting the healthy development and well-being of Canadian children, and we are delighted that, with this program, the beloved Franklin series can play a role in helping to cultivate a love of reading in communities across Canada.”
