TORONTO – Toronto alternative radio station 102.1 the Edge has re-hired well known radio broadcaster and musicologist Alan Cross.
Cross, pictured, will return this fall in a new, undisclosed role to the station that he originally joined some 28 years ago. Perhaps best known as host of the radio series The Ongoing History of New Music, the legendary rock music media personality left the station in 2011 after his position in Corus Radio’s interactive department was eliminated.
“Alan Cross is synonymous with alternative music – he’s credible, authentic and true to the Edge brand,” said Corus Radio Toronto general manager Dave Farough, in the news release. “Having Alan back represents the next phase of the station’s evolution – returning to its music-based roots with intelligent conversation.”
“I spent a long time at the Edge – 1986 through 2011 – so it feels good to be back in the fold,” added Cross. “A lot of people will say the Edge is my natural home, so let’s pick up where we left off, shall we?”
102.1 the Edge (CFNY-FM) is owned by Corus Entertainment.
